JAY SCOTT PORTER - COLCHESTER - Jay Scott Porter, 50, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. He was born in Burlington on Oct. 19, 1961, the son of Carolynne Dunn Porter and the late Paul E. Porter. He was an avid enthusiast of vintage Chevrolet cars, music and the Green Bay Packers. We will always remember his kindness and positivity. His favorite advice was, "Always remember that people's negative energy is a waste of their time, not yours." Jay is survived by his mother; six siblings, their spouses, and nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Porter of Colchester, and his children, Lucas and Scott; Paula Turner of Anaheim Hills, Calif., her spouse, Ben, and their children, Nicholas and Tiffany; Gretchen Ebel of Williston, her spouse, Jonathan, and their children, Stephanie Couillard and Devan Ebel; Christopher Porter of Essex Junction, his spouse, Sheila, and their children, Sam and Max; Adam Porter of Colchester; and Ashley Treat of Essex Junction, her spouse, Shad, and their children, Jordan and Quinn. He also leaves behind many friends, including his four-legged best friend, Justice. Arrangements are in the care of Ready Funeral Home, 261 Shelburne Road, Burlington. There will be no visiting hours. A private family celebration will be held to honor Jay's life. Those wishing to honor Jay's memory are asked to contribute to Glen Highland Dog Rescue, 217 Pegg Road, Morris, NY 13808.
