Obituary Condolences

LORRAINE L. DUROCHIA - ESSEX CENTER - Lorraine Letourneau Durochia, 92, passed away peacefully June 27, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was born Aug. 17, 1919, in Burlington, to the late Pierre and Alma (Godbout) Letourneau. She was a devoted member of St. Pius X Church in Essex for over 50 years. Lorraine graduated from Burlington High School, Class of 1937. She married Charles Arthur Durochia on Aug. 23, 1941. They were married for 69 years. Lorraine is survived by four children, Peter and Dorothy Durochia of DeBary, Fla., James and Hillery Durochia of Essex, John Durochia of Huntington, and Marshall and Lisa (Durochia-Simms) Ross of Raleigh, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Durochia, Michelle Durochia Zello, Karen Miller, Danielle Miller, Kimberly Durochia Fertig, Jared Ross, and Jack Nelson Ross; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Armand Letourneau of Mission Viego, Calif., Paul Letourneau of Colchester, and Robert (Bob) Letourneau of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and many nieces and nephews. Lorraine was predeceased by husband, Charles; daughter, Patricia Durochia Miller; brothers, Gerard, Romaine, and Joseph; and sisters, Yvonne White, Mary Blanche LaVallee, and Adrienne Pillsbury. Lorraine lived a long, fulfilled life, in her own home, with good health until her death. The family would like to give special thanks to all the devoted staff of Visiting Nurses and Vermont Home Care over the past year. Our special thanks to Hellen Asava, who cared for her over the past few months. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 2, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St Pius X Church, 20 Jericho Road in Essex. Visiting hours will be held at 10 a.m., preceding the Mass. Burial will immediately follow the Mass at New Mount Calvary Cemetery, Plattsburg Avenue, Burlington. Arrangements provided by Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant Street, Essex Junction. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lorraine's name to the Visiting Nurses Association, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, VT 05446.
