MAUREEN LYNN PECOR - MELBOURNE BEACH, Fla. - Maureen Lynn Pecor, 48, of Melbourne Beach, Fla., passed away on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, after a courageous battle with cystic fibrosis, diabetes and cancer. Maureen had a double lung transplant in 2000, a single lung transplant in 2010 and a kidney transplant donated from her sister in 2011. Maureen graduated from Mt. Mansfield Union High School, Jericho, in 1982 and Castleton State College, Castleton, in 1986. After college, Maureen taught at Craftsbury Academy in Vermont prior to moving to Florida. In Florida, Maureen taught and was head of the Business Department for 16 years at Melbourne Central Catholic High School. Along with Maureen's long teaching career, she was an advisor for the Future Business leaders of America. At MCC she was the coach of the Business Ethics Club, the Business Academy and was also the Senior Class Coordinator. Maureen also was an Adjunct Professor at Brevard Community College in Melbourne, Fla. She had numerous interests, such as hiking 12 mountains and running 42 5k races following her first transplant. Maureen coached field hockey in Vermont. Maureen enjoyed traveling, especially her trip to Italy. Maureen was the first female to attend the University of Vermont ice hockey school. Maureen loved spending time with her nephew, nieces and friends, especially traveling to Glacier National Park in Montana for a white water rafting trip. Maureen also enjoyed golf, biking, skiing and kayaking. Maureen's rescue dog, Angie, was her constant companion. Maureen trained and used Angie as a therapy dog, visiting the sick and elderly. Maureen was a parishioner at Immaculate Conception of Melbourne Beach, Fla., and was very devoted to her faith. She touched many people and was truly an inspiration to everyone she met. She is survived by her parents, Robert and Nancy Pecor of Melbourne Beach, Fla.; a sister, Michelle Ciccariello and husband, Richard, and niece, Anne; and her brother, Thomas and his wife, Sarah, and nephew, Ryan and nieces, Jamie and Emily. Maureen was predeceased by her sister, Suzy Pecor, in 1972. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at 11 a.m. in St. John Vianney Catholic Church in South Burlington. Interment will follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery. There will be a Reception following the burial at the Moose Lodge, 1636 Williston Rd., South Burlington. The family has asked family and friends to wear something red to honor Maureen's favorite color the day of the funeral.
