JAMES AARON ESDEN - ESSEX JUNCTION - James A. Esden, 91, of Essex Junction, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, in Fletcher Allen Health Care. He was born in Barnet, March 16, 1921, the son of Harlan and Edith Esden/Sommers, stepson of Herb Sommers. Jim graduated from McIndeo in Barnet, in 1939. He enlisted in the Navy and spent his tour aboard the USS Missouri, receiving his honorable discharge in May 1946. In 1948, James married Faye Barber of Newport, and relocated from Barnet to Essex Junction in 1958. James worked for Coffee and Teachout/Carpenter Supply of Colchester. Our dad was God's gift to all of us and is now with God at peace. We will miss his generosity and advice, which he always gave to us with kindness. James is survived by his children, Russell and spouse, Patty, of Fairfield, Lane and spouse, Lynn, of Colchester, and Carol Bohan and spouse, Bob, of Essex Junction; grandchildren, Jeffrey Williams, Dan and Brandy Darrah, Curtis Esden and Carrie Esden, Eric and Jana Esden, and Katie Esden; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Taylor and Callie Esden; and nieces and nephews of Newport and Milton. The family would like to thank Margaret Strobridge, James' companion and friend for over 12 years, for her support, help and love for someone we also loved so much. James was predeceased by his spouse, Faye Barber Esden; their son, Michael Esden; stillborn daughter, Clara Esden; brother, Oliver; in-laws, Cleason and Eva Barber; brother and sister-in-law, Elroy and Fern Davio; and brother and sister-in-law, Reggie and Doris Barber. The family would like to thank Dr. Rippa his primary care physician and all the staff at Fletcher Alan Health Care who cared for our dad. Visiting hours will take place at Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant St., Essex Junction, on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, from 10 to 11 a.m., with a short service from 11 to 11:30 a.m., followed by burial at Fairview Cemetery in Essex Junction.
