DANIEL K. STOKES -- MIDDLEBURY - Daniel K. Stokes, 56, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, after a long illness. Dan was born July 28, 1956, in Burlington, the son of the late Keith and Margaret (Casey) Stokes. Dan attended school in New Haven, and he worked for Shaw's Supermarket in Middlebury for several years. Dan participated in Special Olympics yearly. Dan enjoyed horseback riding, basketball, bowling, snow-shoeing and playing cards. Dan is survived by his sister, Debbie Tahair of Winooski; three brothers, Brian and David of Hinesburg and Bradley and Delina of Huntington; and several aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank Dan's extended family for the love and excellent care that Dan received for the past 30+ years in Middlebury. Dan will be missed by all who knew him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at 11 a.m., at St. Jude Catholic Church, Hinesburg. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at St. Jude from 3 to 6 p.m. Gifford Funeral & Cremation Service, 22 Depot St., Richmond, in care of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to CSAC to benefit the Men's Group Home, 109 Catamount Park, Middlebury, VT 05753.
