HENRY S. ZAGAJESKI -- BURLINGTON - Henry S. Zagajeski, 88, a longtime resident of Burlington, died on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, while walking, doing what he loved to do, and continued his walk to Heaven. Henry was born in Staten Island, N.Y., on Oct. 17, 1924, the son of Walter and Bertha (Barbarewicz) Zagajeski. He was a graduate of St. Michael's College, and served his country with the United States Army during World War II. Henry was married at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Winooski on Sept. 18, 1948, to Stella (Jurkiewicz) Zagajeski. He was employed for many years at I.B.M., from where he retired. Henry's life was devoted to family and faith. He was a devout Catholic and was one of the first Eucharistic Ministers at St. Mark Catholic Church under the direction of Msgr. Edwin Buckley. Henry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Stella Zagajeski; six children and their spouses, Chris and Mary Zagajeski, Rosemary and Tom Morrill, Jadwiga and Neill Bovaird, Laura and Roland Leblanc, Maryjane and Marcel Lemay and Barbara and Bob King; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Zagajeski; and by seven brothers and sisters. Henry's family wish to offer their sincere gratitude to two special friends, Gail Terrien and Peggy Stowell. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St. in Winooski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church in Burlington. Interment will follow at New Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Birthright, 289 College Street, Burlington, VT 05401.
