ROBERT W. LOCKLIN - TUCSON, Ariz. - Robert W. Locklin, 80, passed away Feb. 17, 2013, in Tucson, Ariz. He was born June 6, 1932, in Urbana, Ill., and attended Dartmouth College before graduating from the University of Illinois and earning an MBA from the University of Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, stationed at Utah. He worked for IBM for all of his professional life, living in New York, Texas, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Vermont, before retiring to Tucson, Ariz., in 1988. He had a lifelong love of flying, earning his pilot's license when he was 16 in Urbana, and later earned his commercial pilot's license in Burlington and flew for the Civil Air Patrol in Vermont and Arizona. An avid hunter and fisherman, he spent many days at the family cottage on Lake Seymour in the Northeast Kingdom. He was predeceased by his parents, University of Illinois Professor D. Philip Locklin and Anne Littlefield Locklin; and brother, David W. Locklin. He is survived by his high school sweetheart, the former Mary Louise Rice, his wife of 58 years; son, Steven and daughter-in-law, Mari; and grandsons, William and Thomas. No local service is planned.
