MARILYN V. HOWELL - PEABODY, Mass. - Marilyn V. Howell, 73, of Peabody, Mass., died peacefully Wednesday evening, March 27, 2013, with her family by her side following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late William H. Howell. Born in Burlington, Vt., she was the daughter of the late Archibald and Virginia (Mears) Armell. She was raised and educated in Vermont, later lived in Salem, Mass., and has lived in Peabody for the past 46 years. Marilyn was employed at Medtronic's in Danvers, Mass., as a medical assembler, before she retired in 2004. After her children were grown, Marilyn attended North Shore Community College and received her associate's degree in liberal arts, and then continued taking classes at Salem State in computers. Marilyn enjoyed bird watching, gardening, and traveling around the countryside, especially during the fall foliage. She also enjoyed listening to country music and Christian music and her favorite was the Gathers Brothers. She is survived by three sons, William W. Howell Jr. and his wife, Denise, of Nashua, N.H., Michael and his wife, Susan Howell, of Lynn, Mass., and Erin Howell and his fiancée, Cynthia Degeis, of Lynn, Mass.; daughter, Angela and her husband, Gregory Lane, of Gloucester, Mass.; four brothers, Clyde, Sid, Morris, and Roy Armell, all of Vermont; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her son, Shannon Howell; and siblings, Lestor, Howard, Phillip, and Don Armell, and Lee Morin. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Second Congregational Church, Maple St., Peabody, Mass., to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Grove St., Salem, Mass.
