ELI D. BARTON Obituary
ELI D. BARTON - WINOOSKI - Eli D. Barton, 68, a lifelong resident of Winooski died peacefully, with loving family at his side, on Saturday, May 4, 2013, in Fletcher Allen Health Care following a heart attack. Eli was born in Winooski on March 4, 1945, the son of Henry and Madeline (Vuley) Barton. He was married at St. Joseph's Church in Burlington on Oct. 6, 1962, to Elaine (Cushing) Barton and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Eli was employed for many years by trade as a Steel Worker Journeyman/Rodman and Painter. Eli is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elaine Barton; three children, Danny Barton and partner, Yvonne Perrin, Sandra Wellinger and partner, Ken Labor, and Shelly Barton and partner, Sue Hale; grandchildren, Timothy, Eli, Nicole, Matthew, and Colby; a great-grandson, Caleb; his sister, Wanda and husband, Warren "Matt" Mattson of Milton; his brother, Richard Barton of Florida; sister-in-law, Sandra Barton of Tennessee; his mother-in-law, Cecile Cushing of Burlington; sisters-in-law, Doris Barton of Burlington, Mary Ann Barton of Winooski, Rosemary "Rodie" Marcotte of Burlington, and Laurie Allen and husband Greg of Huntington; many nieces, nephews, god children and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Madeline Barton; his brothers, Robert, Walter, Roger, Ronald, and Clarence "Pabby" Barton; his sisters-in-law, Shirley, Sylvia, and Audrey; his father-in-law, Robert Cushing; and his brother-in-law, Robert Marcotte. He had fond memories of times spent with his special friends, Al "Jr." Fenoff, Rene Carpenter, and Eric Paquette who helped with numerous projects around "This Old House" and all who spent many hours fishing with him on the river banks. His greatest joy was his family and the special times that were spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchild, Caleb. He was grateful for all the extra love and support he received from his grandson, Tim, during the last few weeks of his life. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St., in Winooski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Winooski. Interment will follow at St. Stephen's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to , VT Affiliate, Inc., 434 Hurricane Lane, Williston, VT 05495; or the , VT Division, Inc., 55 Day Lane, Williston, VT 05495.
