LARRY B. DION - SWANTON - Larry B. "Zion" Dion, 53, died unexpectedly, at his home, in Swanton, on Sunday, June 9, 2013. He was born in San Luis Obispo, Calif., on July 19, 1959, the son of Mary Ann (Hoover) and Leo J. Dion, Jr. On Sept. 23, 2007, in Las Vegas, Larry married Sally Shover, who survives him. Larry grew up in Burlington and graduated from Burlington High School. He worked in the manufacturing field and was employed by Lake Champlain Chocolates for the past decade. He loved sports and was a huge fan of both the Dallas Cowboys and Boston Red Sox. Larry enjoyed playing cribbage, softball and golf and was an avid bowler. He loved planning the annual cruises he took with his wife and their friends. Larry will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife, Sally (Shover) Dion; his daughter, Shannon (Dion) Redmond and her husband, DeRon; his son, Anthony Dion and his fiancee, Amy; and his stepson, Justin Coons, all of Burlington. He was a proud "Pops" and "PopPop" to his three grandchildren, Zavier Dion and Annika and Andre Redmond. He is also survived by his sister, Beverly Dion and her partner, Kevin Gibbs; his in-laws, Ken and Alice Shover; his brother-in-law, Daniel Shover and his wife, Grace; his "bowling buddies", Tom, Jim, Randy and Brian; his "cruising friends", Charlie, Marie, Mark, Diane, Jimmy, and Donna; and his extended family and many dear friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, June 15, 2013, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans. A funeral service will then be held at 3 p.m. in the Heald Chapel. The Reverend Elizabeth Griffin, Pastor of the St. Albans Bay Methodist Church, will officiate.
