MICHAEL R. KALIVODA - BURLINGTON - Michael R. Kalivoda Jr., died on Aug. 24, 2013, from complications of a brain aneurysm. He was born in Newark, Del., on Jan. 4, 1989, son of Michael R. Kalivoda Sr. and Diane (Kerr) Kalivoda. Michael was a very active, happy kid and enjoyed many activities including skateboarding, basketball and fishing. Michael always made friends everywhere he went. In February 2001, Michael suffered a brain aneurysm which changed his life drastically. Michael then started years of many treatments and procedures. Through all the time spent in the hospital, Michael always kept strong. Michael attended First State School in Wilmington, Del. The First State School is where Michael met amazing teachers and friends. After the passing of his mother, Michael moved to Ohio with his father, where he lived for five years, before moving to Burlington three years ago with his brother. In Vermont, Michael was his happiest. Michael loved taking walks around Lake Champlain and Church Street, enjoyed meditation groups, was a volunteer at the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf, and became a member of the College Street Congregational Church. Michael is survived by his father, Michael Sr. of Steubenville, Ohio; grandfather, Dennis Kerr of Wilmington, Del.; sister, Kelly Kalivoda of Bear, Del.; brother, Paul Kalivoda of Burlington; nephew, Jacob Kalivoda of Bear, Del.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Diane Kalivoda in 2005; and grandmother, Frances Kerr. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, in the College Street Congregational Church, 265 College Street, Burlington. Interment will take place at a later date in Delaware. Arrangements are by Boucher and Pritchard Funeral Directors.
