EDGAR W. LUMNAH - BURLINGTON - Edgar W. Lumnah, 78, passed away in Birchwood Terrace Healthcare on Saturday, March 8, 2014. He was born on Dec. 10, 1935, in Troy, N.Y. He served honorably with the US Navy and was discharged in 1958. In 1965, he married the former Joanne Mary Praire, who predeceased him on March 27, 2007. He spent most of his working life as a Psychiatric Technician at the Vermont State Hospital in Waterbury. His final years, before retirement, were with the Security Dept. at Camp Johnson. Ed was an active parishioner of the St. Joseph Co-Cathedral, a Life Member of both the Knights of Columbus DeGoesbriand Council #279 Third Degree and the Fourth Degree Assembly #1148. He was also a very loyal and active member of the Confraternity of St. Joseph. In his younger years Ed enjoyed dancing, especially the Tango, Rumba and Fox Trot. He loved crossword puzzles, classical music and will be remembered for his knowledge of history and his appreciation of a good joke. He leaves his five children and spouses, Mary and Michael Brown of Burlington, Vallairy and Dannis Hackney of Jericho, Barbara Lumnah of Burlington, Philip Lumnah of Burlington, and Michael Lumnah and Mindy Duval of Burlington; grandchildren, Will, Christopher, Elizabeth, Andrew, Olivia, Sabrina, and Keira; and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Co-Cathedral. Spring interment will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Essex. Visiting hours are today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Elmwood-Meunier Funeral Home, 97 Elmwood Ave. The Burlington K of C will provide an Honor Guard for the evening and the St. Joseph Confraternity will meet for prayers at 6 p.m.
