Dear Mary Lou, For all of my ministry Mark has been a role model for me of fearless, enthusiastic, joy-filled living. Whenever I saw him it was like drinking from a spring of living water. Thank you for your amazing care for Mark and your care for many of us in Vermont Conference through these many years. You are a beacon of delightful care, truth and vision and I pray your will find God's radiant presence encircling you as you complete your care and companionship with Mark, grieve his departure, and step into the next chapter of the life God has for you! Hugs and love to you! Marsh

I'm so sorry to hear of Mark's death. He was a powerful example of living compassionately. He showed how to bring humor, wisdom and respect to each person he met at JUMP.

Dear Mary Lou -- I can see and hear him now as he walked in the door of the UCC office on Maple Street. He was such an extraodinary man. I've moved to Maryland so will not be able to attend services. Sending you love and comfort, Karen

I cherish Mark's gentleness, advocacy and humor; and I remember well meeting him at JUMP with Howard Stearns, such different personalities!
Mark gave me his preaching words with the statement, "Wear them well and wear them out!" He offered an inspiring model for that!

Mary Lou,
I suspect yours is a mixture of sadness for the loss of future and joy for the time shared with Mark. I don't often meet men whom are examples of what men should be. Mark was truly one of them, kind, compassionate, brilliant (he did choose you after all :). Please know that you and yours are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Mary Lou,
I am very saddened to learn of Mark's death and feel so blessed to have known him during my years in Burlington. He was a great role model for how to live such a full life of service and joy after retirement. A wonderful minister with such a deep commitment to justice--he will always be an inspiration in my own hospice chaplaincy and work in the church. Please know that you are both in my prayers and love is being sent to you and your family all the way from the beautiful Pacific North West.

Dear Mary Lou,
He was one of the world's unique souls. He probably was one of the few people I have actually listened in advice giving. The world is a better place for his presence but it is a bit lonelier now. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
