Eugene C. 'Gino' Gomori
Eugene C. "Gino" Gomori, 83, of Butler passed away peacefully at 10:25 a.m. Friday among family and the caring staff of the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born in South Bend, Ind., on Nov. 2, 1929, to the late Stephen Gomori and Agnes Rose Varga Gomori.
Gene worked in construction most of his life, retiring from Carpenters Local Union 500 in 1991. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served in Italy during the Korean War.
As a younger man, he was a proficient roller skater and avid bowler and softball player in local leagues. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge of Butler. In his later years, he enjoyed woodworking, home improvement projects and Pittsburgh sports, but most of all he relished any opportunity to dote on his family.
Gene's legacy will be the beautiful example he set by living a life of kindness and compassion, humility and gratitude, honesty and integrity. He was devoted to his family and possessed a keen sense of humor and a sterling work ethic.
He and his ready smile will be greatly missed by his wife, Bonita Myers Gomori, who he married on Nov. 13, 1954; his three children, Paul (Teresa) Gomori of Cranberry Township, Gina (Mark) Klopfer and Diann (Michael) Lutz, both of Butler; his five grandchildren, Gino Gomori, Michael Klopfer, Matthew Klopfer, Daniel Klopfer and Bonnie Klopfer, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gene is also survived by two brothers, Louis Gomori of Butler and Alex Gomori of Youngstown, Ohio; and two sisters, Violet Bosak of Northridge, Calif. and Irene Crater of Poland, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and an infant sister.

I am so sorry for the family's loss on such an amazing kind hearted man. I was blessed with the privilege of meeting "Gene" and Bonnie about a year and a half ago, when we purchased the house directly next to them. In that year, we got to get to know a wonderful, generous, sincere, kind, gentle man. Our hearts are heavy for his wife and other family members. Our prayers go out to the family.
