Robert E. Mahaffey Sr.
Robert E. Mahaffey Sr., 81, of Butler died Sunday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born Oct. 24, 1931, in Clymer, Pa., and was a son of the late Lyle L. Mahaffey and Mary Luelle (Hibbard) Mahaffey.
He worked as a coal miner and mechanic for 30 years for R&P Coal, Beth Energy and Penn Allegheny Coal, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the VFW, and he had enjoyed fishing and hunting.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Ivodene (McEwan) Mahaffey; his children, Carol (Jeff) Johnson of Thurmont, Md., Robert (Barbara) Mahaffey Jr. of Allison Park, Pa., Joyce (Jeff) Blymiller of East Brady, Lois (Ken Jr.) Crispin of Butler; two brothers, Tom Mahaffey of Apollo, Pa., and Leroy Stineman of Indiana, Pa.; nine grandchildren, Grant Johnson, Margaret Johnson, Sean Mahaffey, Robert Ethan Mahaffey, Greg Blymiller, Brian Blymiller, Jennifer Shaw, Natalie Lawrence and Teresa Crispin; and four great-grandchildren, Blake Blymiller, Bella Blymiller, Bowen Shaw and Lacey Lawrence.
MAHAFFEY - Friends of Robert E. Mahaffey Sr., who died Sunday, May 12, 2013, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral service arrangements are incomplete.
Interment will be in Butler County Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.
