Agnes Marie Semes
Agnes Marie Semes, 86, formerly of Butler, died Thursday morning at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.
She was born in Butler on Aug. 5, 1926, a daughter of the late Steven and Anna Olexa Yamnitzky.
A registered nurse, Agnes was a graduate of the Butler Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and had worked at Butler Memorial as a pediatric and maternity nurse.
She was an active member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and was a member of the church choir and the St. Paul's Catholic Women and Christian Mothers organization. She also had been a member of the Blazing Star Choral Society.
She was the widow of John A. Semes Sr. They were married Feb. 3, 1948, and he died Aug. 1, 1997. She also was preceded in death by an one daughter, Patricia A. Semes Mackrell; one son, John A. Semes Jr.; an infant son; four brothers, George, Albert, Michael and Steve; and two sisters, Ann and Margaret.
Surviving are three children and their spouses, Paul and Vicki Semes of Butler, Susan and Robert Sloan of Eau Claire and Mary and Mark Dietrick of Mars; one sister, Mary Dimmick of Butler; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
SEMES - Friends of Agnes Marie Semes, who died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Butler.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
St. Paul's Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will recite the Rosary at 9:40 a.m. Monday at the church.
