Alden Richard Bowers, 91, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Butler, passed away Friday in Texas.
He was born on Feb. 2, 1923, in Butler, the son of the late Forest Bowers and Grace (Whitmire) Bowers.
Alden was of Presbyterian faith. He was a former member of William H. Miller Lodge 769, Butler Shrine Luncheon Club, New Castle Consistory, Syria Shriners of Pittsburgh and the Meridian Vets Club.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army
Surviving are his three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Susann) Byrd of Katy, Texas, Mrs. Joseph (Carol Ann) Sees of Etna and Mrs. William (Antoinette) Werner of Lancaster; his son, Francis (Carole) Haider of Houston, Texas; his 16 grandchildren; his 24 great-grandchildren; and his four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances Vinski Haider Bowers; and his brother, Jack Bowers.
Bowers- The friends of Alden Richard Bowers, who passed away Friday, March 7, 2014, will be received at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Butler County Memorial Park.
Military honors will be provided by VFW
249 and American Legion 778.
