Bernard F. "Bernie" Hohman, 65, of Butler passed away at 6:15 a.m. Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital of injuries sustained in a vehicle accident involving a deer seven years ago.
Bernie was born March 11, 1947, in Pittsburgh to the late Francis R. Hohman and the late Sarah Gallagher Hohman.
He was a veteran of the National Guard based in Grove City. He was a member of the Pipefitters LU 354 in Latrobe, having last been employed by McCarls Mechanical Contractors.
He was a former member of the West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department, where he was a firefighter and an EMT. Bernie enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting during archery and muzzle loading seasons. He found great joy being with his family in the swimming pool.
He is survived by his wife, Linda J. Kildoo Hohman, who he married June 1, 1968; one daughter, Amy Hohman-Vajda and her husband, Tom, of Butler; three granddaughters, Alexis, Emily and Isabella; his mother-in-law, Betty Kildoo of Butler; two brothers-in-law, Jim Kildoo and his wife, Patty, of Butler and Ferd Kildoo and his wife, Melinda, of Hermitage; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Berni Sue Hohman, who died Oct. 5, 1980; and one brother, Fritzie.
HOHMAN - Friends of Bernard F. "Bernie" Hohman, who died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, will be received at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Connie Dunn officiating. Burial will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
