Dennis H. "Denny" Cartwright, 73, of Harmony passed away Wednesday surrounded by his loving family at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.
Born on Jan. 6, 1940, in Callery, he was the son of the late Arthur and Twilia (Bicehouse) Cartwright.
Denny proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
After 38 years of dedicated service, he retired from F.B. Leopold in Zelienople.
He was a member of the Crestview Community Church in Callery, the Cranberry Elks Lodge
2249, the Harmony Moose Lodge 957, and he was a former president of the Seneca Valley Quarterback Club.
After playing baseball throughout his life, Denny's passion for the sport led him to coach Little League, Pony League and Eagle League baseball in the Callery and the surrounding communities. Denny had the privilege of being a member of the pit crew for the Auction Barn at the Pittsburgh Motor Speedway and enjoyed dirt track racing. He was an avid NASCAR fan, who loved watching the late Dale Earnhardt Sr., better known as "The Intimidator," and cheering for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Penguins and Steelers.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his three loving daughters, Dawn Yates and her husband, John, of Sycamore, Pa., Bonnie Wolfe and her husband, Bruce, of Zelienople and Melissa Cartwright of Harmony, and his three adored grandchildren, Jacob Yates, Paige Miller and Corey Shotter.
In addition to his parents, Denny was preceded in death by his three brothers and his three sisters.
CARTWRIGHT - The family of Dennis H. "Denny" Cartwright, who passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, will welcome friends from 11 to 3 and 5 p.m. until the time of his memorial service with military honors at 7 p.m. Friday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with the Rev. Robert Goossen and the Rev. Rosalyn Kummer co-officiating.
