Jack A. Dunmyre, 73, of Davenport, Fla., formerly of Butler, passed away Tuesday at the Tampa General Hospital.
He was born Sept. 10, 1940, in East Brady to the late George A. Dunmyre and Edith Kelly Dunmyre.
Mr. Dunmyre was a former member of the Christ Community United Methodist Church.
He retired from the melt shop at Armco after 30 plus years of service.
Mr. Dunmyre was a veteran of the U.S. Navy
, serving on the USS Enterprise during the Bay of Pigs crisis. He was a former member of the Greenwood Village Fire Department. Mr. Dunmyre enjoyed fishing in Canada and loved to cruise and travel. He was an avid photographer.
Mr. Dunmyre is survived by his wife, Sandra S. Schoenfeld, who he married Nov. 11, 1963; two daughters, Lauren Dunmyre Kugima of Sewickley and Janine Dunmyre of Columbus, Ohio; five grandchildren, Tyler Kugima, and Stella, Scarlett, Zeke and Georgia Dunmyre Fried; two brothers, Richard K. Dunmyre and his wife, Violet, of Karns City and Kevin P. Dunmyre of Chicora; and six nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Walter Kugima.
DUNMYRE - Friends of Jack A. Dunmyre, who died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Christ Community United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Gascoine officiating. Burial will take place in the Bear Creek Cemetery in Petrolia.
