James F. Evans
James F. Evans, 85, of Middlesex Township, Valencia, died Wednesday evening at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.
Born on Dec. 29, 1927, in Homestead, Pa., he was the son of the late Lavier B. and Olive R. James Evans.
Jim had been the manager of technical assistance for Verizon in Pittsburgh.
Active in the Masonic Orders for more than 60 years, he was a past master of Lodge 45 in Oakland and most recently was past master of the John E. Mair Lodge 729, F&AM in Mars.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He had been a member of the Glade Run Presbyterian Church in Cooperstown and the Cranberry Elks. Jim enjoyed fishing and farming.
Surviving are his wife, Rita Burns Evans, who he married on May 23, 1977; a daughter, Karen Evans of Saxonburg; two sons, Gregory Evans (Rebecca) of Spring Mills, Pa., and James "Hap" (Andrea) Evans of Middlesex Township; and his grandchildren, Amanda Becker (Rusty), Jenna Evans (Steve), Dylan Evans, Matthew Evans (Katherine), Rachel Evans and Kevin, Shawn and Michael Bell.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Andrews.
EVANS - Friends of James F. Evans, who died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Holy Savior Cemetery, Richland Township, Pa.
