Kathleen L. Dudek
Kathleen L. "Kath" Dudek, 62, of the Laneville section of Freeport passed away at her home Friday while in the company of family members.
Kath was born in El Paso, Texas, on Dec. 23, 1950. She was a daughter of the late Alice (Reynolds) and Thomas W. Shaughnessy.
She had been a school teacher
for the Socorro School District in El Paso, Texas, for 10 years. She also had been a substitute teacher for the Freeport School District for 15 years.
Kath was a member of St. Mary, Mother of God Church, in Freeport. She enjoyed going to yard sales with her husband, sewing and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Paul J. "Buck" Dudek; her four sisters, Judy (John) Driscoll of Albuquerque, N.M., Tricia (Bob) Hall of Houston, Texas, Maureen Gregory of Fayetteville, N.C., and Grace (Ward) Vaughn of El Paso, Texas; and her four brothers, Tom (Josette) Shaughnessy of El Paso, Texas, Joe (Margot) Shaughnessy of El Paso, Texas, Tim Shaughnessy (Mable Mcknight), of Longview Texas, and Mark (Alicia) Shaughnessy of El Paso, Texas. Kath also is survived by her nephew, who she helped raise, Richard Rodríguez of Albuquerque, N.M.; and a long-time close family friend, Fred Bunn of El Paso, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, James Michael Shaughnessy, who passed in infancy, and two nephews, Nathan Hall and Brian Shaughnessy.
DUDEK - Family and friends of Kathleen L. Dudek, who passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport. A parish wake service will be in the funeral home Monday evening.
A parting prayer service will be in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday that will be followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary, Mother of God Church, in Freeport at 10 a.m. with Father Edward Volz officiating. Burial service will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Freeport.
