Peggy Jean Robertson, 87, of Slippery Rock passed away at 1:07 p.m. Tuesday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was formerly of Seaford, Del., before moving to Slippery Rock in 2011.
She was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on Sept. 2, 1925, and was the daughter of Albert Charles Mader and Wilhelmina Katherine "Winnie" Hessman. She married Ivan Odell Robertson on Feb. 24, 1945, in Salisbury, Md., and he preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1993.
She was a homemaker for almost all her years until her she reached her retirement age. Then she became employed as a foster grandparent in the Delaware Foster Grandparent Program and worked from 1994 to 2010.
She was a volunteer with the Blades Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary while she lived in Seaford, Del. She was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1728 in Seaford, where she was active well into her 80s and enjoyed playing shuffleboard. Once she moved to Pennsylvania, she became a member of the Butler Life Program, where she attended three times per week. She also attended the Slippery Rock Senior Center.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn Jean Glerum and her companion, Linda Kay Passauer, of Slippery Rock; a son, William Paul Robertson and wife, Mary Katherine (Kathy) Robertson, of Seaford, Del.; three grandchildren, Lonnie Russell Glerum, Scott Christopher Glerum and Michelle Lynn Glerum; four great-grandchildren, Ivan Bradley Glerum, Gwendolyn Ruth Glerum, Veronica Jane Glerum and Jack Christopher Bandy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
ROBERTSON - A memorial service for Peggy Jean Robertson, who passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, 514 3rd St. Seaford, DE 19973.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Smith Funeral Home, Slippery Rock.
