Richard L. "Dick" Lawther

Richard L. "Dick" Lawther, 65, of Valencia passed away Tuesday evening at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.
Born in Butler on July 17, 1948, he was the son of Violet Peaco Lawther and the late Harry T. Lawther.
Dick was a retired machinist for the Carl Strutz Co. in Mars.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Mars VFW Post 7505, where he served as manager for several years. He was also a member of the Mars VFW Honor Guard.
Surviving are his mother, Violet Lawther of Valencia; his fiancee, Ruth Elder; his children, Michelle, Amanda and Tina; his four grandchildren; his sisters, Sandra Milliken and her husband, Robert, and Nancy Jackson and her husband, Gary, both of Gibsonia; his sister-in-law, Leslie Lawther of Valencia; and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry T. Lawther, and his brother, Thomas Lawther.
Lawther - The friends of Richard L. "Dick" Lawther, who passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014, are invited to a graveside service with military honors at 11:30 a.m. Friday at West Union Cemetery, Bakerstown-Warrendale Road, Pine Township. A reception will follow at noon at the Mars VFW.
Memorials may be given to the family to assist them with final expenses.
