Robert G. Rock, 79, of Butler died Wednesday afternoon at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Butler, on Feb. 7, 1933, a son of the late George H. and Mary Betty Rock.
Bob was retired from Armco Steel Corp.'s Butler plant. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army.
He was an avid golfer, a member and volunteer bingo worker at Highfield Community Center, and a member of the American Legion Posts in Butler and Lyndora. He was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving are two sons, Robert K. Rock and Michael and his wife, Lisa, Rock of Butler; one daughter, Debra Schlarman and her husband, Glenn, of Annandale, Va.; three grandchildren, Joshua Rock, Cameron Schlarman and Kyle Schlarman; one brother, George L. (Shirley) Rock of Butler; one sister, Dorothy (Anthony) Onufer of Renfrew; an aunt, Frances Betty; his cousin, Shirley Rock, with whom he was very close; and his former wife, Sandra Southworth.
He was preceded in death by three children, Denise M. Rock, John R. Rock and George Rock; and one brother, Richard Rock.
ROCK - Friends of Robert G. Rock, who died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Harry Bielewicz, pastor of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, officiating. Private interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Honor Guard of VFW Post 249 of Butler and American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora.
