Sharon Anne Sonnett

Sharon Anne Sonnett of Slippery Rock passed away Wednesday afternoon at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler, following a 20-month courageous struggle against cancer.
She was born Nov. 1, 1957, in Pittsburgh, to William George and Alice LaVerne (Johnston) Lauer.
She graduated from the Allegheny Community College nursing program and was a 1976 graduate of North Hills High School.
Her career as an LPN and later, a registered nurse, extended over 31 years.
She married George Robert Sonnett on Sept. 11, 1993.
She was a member of Friendship Presbyterian Church, was an avid gardener and later recognized as a master gardener.
She enjoyed skiing in the winter and sailing with her family in the summer.
Survivors include her husband, George, at home; her daughter, Rachel M. Allio of Slippery Rock; a sister, Janice (Paul) Schoeneman of Mentor, Ohio; a brother, Richard George (Leslie) Lauer of Almont, Mich.; and two granddaughters, Cassandra "Cassie" Elizabeth and Alexis "Lexie" Anne Allio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Eileen.
SONNETT - A memorial service to celebrate the life of Sharon Anne Sonnett, who died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at the McDanels Launch, Moraine State Park. Friends will begin gathering at the launch at 9:30 a.m.
