Thomas E. Parvis
Thomas E. Parvis, 94, of Butler passed away Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Feb. 13, 1919, in Houston, Del., the son of the late John C. and Effa Parvis.
Tom enjoyed golfing, doing crossword puzzles and attending his Navy reunions. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Tom was a retired Naval BMC after 20 years of service.
He also retired from Rudolph and West after 25 years and from Stoughton Acres Golf Course after 23 years. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Anna M. (Smith) Parvis; a daughter, Charlotte Ruth Eaton of Md.; a son, Bernard S. Bergling of Maryland; six grandchildren, Karen Frazier, Thomas Bergling, Debra Minnich, Gary K. Eaton Jr., Kristie Bailey and Amanda Catalfano; eight great-grandchildren, Mollie, Cody, Cian, Harleigh, Olivia, Natalie, Alex and Gabbi; and a brother, Charles Parvis of West Virginia.
He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane E. Ralston, one sister and two brothers.
PARVIS - Friends of Thomas E. Parvis, who passed away Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, will be received at Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Curt McDaniel officiating. Interment will be in the Butler County Memorial Park. Military honors will be by the VFW
249 and the American Legion 778 posts.
