Richard K. Foringer, 78, of West Monterey in Clarion County died of natural causes at 7:15 a.m. Monday at his home.
Born June 6, 1926, in West Monterey, he was the son of Richard L. and Anna L. Williams Foringer.
A veteran of World War II, he entered the Navy on May 18, 1944, and was honorably discharged at Lido Beach, N.Y., on May 19, 1946, as a fireman first class. He received the American Theater Medal and the Victory Medal.
He had been a freight hauler with Boss-Linco Freight Lines for more than 31 years and retired in 1982. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening in his retirement years.
Mr. Foringer was a member and elder of the Concord Presbyterian Church in Perry Township, Clarion County.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Knapp Foringer, whom he married March 19, 1949; two daughters, Deborah Foringer of New Woodstock, N.Y., and Christine Farley of Canastota, N.Y.; four sons, Richard Foringer of Cazenovia, N.Y., Robert Foringer of Canastota, Alan Foringer of Palm Bay, Fla., and Jim Foringer of Rimersburg; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He also is survived by a sister, Judy Tizzard of Fletcher, N.C.; a brother, Dean Foringer of Leicster, N.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Two brothers preceded him in death.
FORINGER - Friends of Richard K. Foringer, who died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at H. JACK BUZARD FUNERAL HOME, Wayne Street, Parker. Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Concord Presbyterian Church, Perry Township, where services will follow at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Agnes Brady officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association location of the donor's choice.
