Alexis Summers Obituary
Alexis "Alex" Lynn Summers, 17, of Saxonburg passed away Tuesday due to a car accident.
She was born July 25, 1994, in Butler, the daughter of Brian E. and Tammy (Madison) Summers of Saxonburg.
Alex loved Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was a member of New Life Christian Ministries.
Alex was a senior at Knoch High School, where she was a varsity cheerleader.
She had been a competitive gymnast at the Butler Gymnastics Club for 10 years. She belonged to KDA Ski Club and worked part time at Isazzu Hair Salon as a receptionist.
Surviving are her parents, Brian E. and Tammy (Madison) Summers of Saxonburg; her maternal grandparents, Richard and Donna (Sankey) Madison of Butler; her maternal grandmother, Sandy Summers of Butler; two aunts, Milan (Dave) Grupp of Mars and Denise (Troy) Slater of Butler; two uncles, Bill Summers and Dave Summers, both of Butler; and a number of great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Matthew Brian Summers; and her paternal grandfather, William Summers.
SUMMERS - Friends of Alexis "Alex" Lynn Summers, who died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, will be received at Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today. On Friday at the Saxonburg Memorial United Presbyterian Church, Main Street, Saxonburg, there will be visitation from 9:30 until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.
Contributions to honor Alexis' life, may be made to NexTier Bank, c/o Alex Summers, P.O. Box 1550, Butler, PA 16003, for a college scholarship fund set up by the Butler Hy-flyers in her name or to New Life Christian Ministries, 1032 Carriage Lane, Saxonburg, PA 16056.

I didn't know her, but we had many mutual friends (plus my best friend is her cousins) From all the posts on Facebook, Ales seemed like a very friendly, Christ like young lady. Her friends and family will be in my Prayers.

Dear Family in Christ---I came to New Life for about six months. You are a family and you are so blessed to have these people to hold you up during this very difficult time. Do not lose heart----To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I am a mom, too and I am very sorry for your loss. We share the sorrow in our hearts this Sabboth morning with you over your precious daughter's death. As a mother, grandmother and great grandmother, I cannot imagine your pain. Alex and I share the same favorite scripture verse...I can do all things through him who strengthens me..Phil.4:13. I've worn that bracelet every day since receiving it from my best friend 3 years ago. Brian & Tammy, We were so deeply saddened to hear about the death of your beautiful daughter, Alexis. We remember her as such an adorable, quiet young girl sitting between her parents in church when we were pastoring COC. She was just precious! I remember asking her to play the offertory once or twice. I wanted to encourage her to keep taking piano lessons. We have been away and were not able to come to the funeral home. I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful daughter. I didn't know her, but my son William did. He also passed away in a tragic accident on July 15, 2010. Nothing will take away the hurt, but I know it helps to know how much she was loved by so many. I have a beautiful picture of your daughter with my son. We would never trade the time we had with our babies, no matter how short, and we must know that God had a bigger plan for them. Never a loss, always a blessing.

May God be your strength during this difficult time. I did not know Alexis but it's obvious she is loved by many. She touched many lives and this will continue as you celebrate her life, not mourn her death. Nearly 10 years ago I lost my sister when she was 20 years old. God has a plan which is not revealed to us clearly. Alex is dancing on streets that are golden...with her brother, grandfather, and even my sister. Standing on the promises of God we cannot fall.
