Bertha B. Hartwig, 93, of Butler died Wednesday morning at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Sept. 9, 1924, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Stella Luhaszeski.
Bertha was the head cook for the Butler VA Medical Center, retiring after 25 years.
She was a member of St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Butler, the Legion of Mary, was a lector and eucharistic minister at St. Andrew's and had been a member of various bowling leagues.
Surviving are her son, Thomas L. (Cyndi) Hartwig of Wexford; her daughter, Christine (Dennis) Kerr of Butler; two grandchildren, Megan (Mike) Megrey of Shaler, and Adam (Katie) Hartwig of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bertha was anticipating the birth of her first great-grandchild to be born this November.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo W. Hartwig; and 12 brothers and sisters.
HARTWIG - There will not be a public visitation for Bertha B. Hartwig, who died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 1660 N. Main St. Ext., Butler. The Rev. Nick Argentieri will officiate.
Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Butler.
