Byron W. "Buckey" Barger Jr., 53, of Clintonville Road, Harrisville, died of natural causes at 6:11 a.m. Monday in the emergency room of the Grove City Medical Center.
Born in Perryville, Clarion County, Oct. 2, 1953, he was the son of the late Byron W. Sr. and Mary Crissman Barger.
He was a graduate of Franklin High School and the Oil City Vo-Tech School. He later attended and graduated with honors from the New Castle School of Trades with an associate degree in electrical technology.
Mr. Barger worked for more than 20 years at the former Cooper-Bessemer Corp., later Cooper Energy, Grove City. For the past three years, he worked in the shipping department at General Electric in Grove City. He held a journeyman machinist title with the United Steelworkers Union.
Mr. Barger was a Protestant.
He was an avid hunter much of his adult life and was a former member of the Irwin Rod and Gun Club.
Surviving are his wife, Darlene Hughes Barger, whom he married May 12, 1973; two daughters, Bobbi Denise Barger DeVault of Harrisville and Laura Lee Barger at home; a son, James Jason Barger of Cheyenne, Wyo.; two grandchildren: Brittany and Byron W. DeVault, both of Harrisville; a sister: Ethel White of Oil City; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
BARGER - Friends of Byron W. "Buckey" Barger Jr., who died Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Main Street, Route 38, Eau Claire. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth Hughes, a United Methodist pastor, officiating. Burial will be at the Perryville Cemetery.
