Charles 'Chuck' D. Birch
Charles "Chuck" D. Birch, 61, of Butler passed away at 10:08 p.m. Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 2, 1951, in Meadville to the late James Birch and Amelia Froelicher Birch.
Mr. Birch earned his bachelor's from Edinboro University and went on to earn his master's at Slippery Rock University. He was a sixth grade teacher for 35 years at Oakland Township Elementary School in the Butler School District.
Chuck was a member of the Community Alliance Church where he was the video director. His greatest joy was his family. In addition, he was an avid woodworker and enjoyed biking, traveling, kayaking and bird watching. Chuck was on the board for Meals on Wheels and helped deliver meals.
Mr. Birch is survived by his wife, Jenley Johnson Birch, who he married July 25, 1998; five children, Jennifer Bowlin and her husband, Matthew, of Montclair, Va., Carrie Edwards and her husband, Dale, of Richmond, Va., Jaime McKenzie and her husband, Jason, of Richmond, Va., Greg Hollack and his wife, Jessica, of Pittsburgh and Jeff Hollack and his wife, Samantha, of Pittsburgh; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, Jackson, Ella, Reagan, Madelynne and Abbi; and one brother, Jim Birch and his wife, Donna, of Meadville.
BIRCH - Friends of Charles "Chuck" D. Birch, who died Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. A memorial celebration will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, with pastors Dennis L. Krajacic, Jim Smith and Jeff Lonsinger officiating. Burial will take place in Butler County Memorial Park.
