Drew Donald Martin
Drew Donald Martin, 38, of Franklin Park, formerly of Munhall, passed away Saturday at Allegheny General Hospital of kidney cancer.
He was the beloved husband of Amanda (Iman); loving son of David C. and Dorothy Martin; brother of David J. (Dana) Martin and Dana (David) Hester; uncle of David and Dante Hester; son-in-law of Jeff and Diane Iman; and brother-in-law of Tim Iman and his fiancée, Danielle. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless close friends.
Drew was valedictorian of his graduating class of Steel Valley high School in 1992 and graduated from Penn State's Scholars Program cum laude in 1997 with a major in English and a minor in world literature. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Drew was employed at GNC and UPMC and was a senior software engineer at PNC Bank. With PNC staff, Drew was a guest lecturer at the University of Pittsburgh's Computer Science Evening Lecture Series.
Drew was a former active member of Munhall's No. 4 Volunteer Fire Company. As a member of the No. 4 company, he served as a line officer and lieutenant. Recently, he was involved with the Red Barn Players, and he and Amanda have appeared in several plays together. He also played recreational ice hockey with the Black Ice team, and was active in Dungeons and Dragons and Battle Tech groups.
MARTIN - Friends of Drew Donald Martin, who passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Wednesday at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, 3511 Main St., Munhall, 412-461-6394.
A celebration of Drew's life will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Homestead Park United Methodist Church, 4231 Shady Ave., Munhall. Please meet at the church.
