The family and loved ones of Guy Wesley Martsolf Sr., 83, announce his passing at 9 a.m. Monday at his home in Euclid following a lingering illness.
He was born Oct. 23, 1929, to Francis and Laura Harbison Martsolf.
Guy worked hard all of his life as a miner, farmer, an employee of Pullman Standard and as a truck driver for Harold Block Plant, Sechan Limestone, various stone companies, and Carlson Amusement Rides. His last employment was as a blaster with Kesco, Inc.
Guy is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Goldie K. Thompson Martsolf and their five children, Rosie Stamm of Butler, Guy Martsolf Jr., and his wife, Cindy, of Butler, Louis Paul Martsolf and his wife, Sherry, of Fort Worth, Texas, Timothy D. Martsolf of Meadville, Pa., and Judith R. McKay of New Brighton; grandfather to 11 grandchildren, Christopher Stamm and his wife, Christine, Shannon Cupec, Robert Martsolf and his wife, Linda, Louis Martsolf, Joe Martsolf, Lucas Martsolf and his fiance, Lindsey, Joshua Martsolf, Juliet Martsolf and her fiance, John, Sara McKay, Lora McKay and her fiance, Jason, and Kara McKay; and grandfather to 11 great-grandchildren, Brendon, David, Bryce, MaKayla, Paityn, Jazmin, Brooke, Alex, Molly, Addison and Benson. He is a brother to Wilda Groves of Butler, Geraldine Heemer and her husband, Floyd, Lucille Martsolf of Greenville, S.C., George Martsolf and his wife, Maryann, of Butler and Dale Martsolf and his wife, Betty, also of Butler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Norman; son-in-law, David Stamm; and sister-in-law, Mollie Kline.
MARTSOLF - Friends of Guy Wesley Martsolf Sr., who passed away Monday, May 20, 2013, will be received at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Robert Flick, associate pastor of the United Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
