Howard Raymond Toy, 85, of Worthington died Sunday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born on Oct. 7, 1932, in Kittanning, and was the son of the late Charles and Ella (Smith) Toy.
Howard retired from Allegheny Ludlum in Brackenridge after 43 years of employment.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He attended the Worthington Presbyterian Church.
He was a charter member of the Worthington American Legion, where he served on the board for many years. He also was a member of the Kittanning Elks Club.
Mr. Toy loved spending time with his family and having them all over for dinner was a great joy to him. He also enjoyed sitting on the love seat with his wife watching football, baseball and wrestling.
Howard leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 65 years, M. Jean (Hooks) Toy; his daughters, Sharon (Tim) Smouse of Worthington, and Candy (Butch) Griffith of Worthington; his grandchildren, Chad (Kelly) Griffith of Saxonburg, Nathan (Marcy) Dunn of Pottstown, Natalie (Brad) Dunn-Bereziak of Vancouver, and Jason (Terra) Griffith of Worthington; his great-grandchildren, Taylor Baum, Nora Griffith, Ethan Dunn, Claire Griffith and Finley Griffith; his brother, D. Dean (Teresa) Toy; his sister, Esther (David) Miller; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Liz (Merle) Rupp, Alice Cogley and Nancy Hooks; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving grandson, Nolan Smouse, who died in 2013; his brothers, Robert "Bob" Toy and Charles A. Toy; his sister-in-law, Shirley Toy; his brothers-in-law, Denton Cogley and Theodore Hooks Jr.; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Theodore and Ruth Hooks.
TOY - Family and friends of Howard Raymond Toy, who died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in F. Duane Snyder Crissman Funeral Home, 119 Bear St., Worthington.
Additional viewing will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Thursday in Worthington Presbyterian Church, 773 High St., Worthington, with Pastor Robert Hindman officiating.
Burial will follow in Lawn Haven Burial Estates.
