John A. "Dyke" Elliott, 88, of Butler passed away Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Nov. 25, 1925, in Chicora, the son of the late Lester George Elliott and the late Effie Louise (Eyman) Elliott.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II, having served on the USS Bolivar.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, and he retired from Pullman Standard. He enjoyed boating, fishing, cars and flying his airplane.
Surviving are his son, Wayne D. Elliott and his friend, Kirsten Kisling, of Slippery Rock; his daughter-in-law, Renee Elliott of Butler; his four grandchildren, Courtney and Matthew Elliott, Monica Reinhart and Ben Elliott; his two great-grandchildren, Jack and Madeline Reinhart; and his brother, Lester "Popeye" (Toni) Elliott of Butler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie A. (Berry) Elliott, who died on March 25, 2006; his two sons, John Lester Elliott and Ray T. Elliott; and his three sisters.
ELLIOTT - The friends of John A. "Dyke" Elliott, who passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, will be received at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
The services will be at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Joel Benson of the Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Butler County Memorial Park, Butler.
Military honors at the cemetery will be by the VFW Post 249 and the American Legion Post 117.
