John C. 'Senator' Leasher
John C. "Senator" Leasher, 82, of Zelienople passed away Saturday while in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born Aug. 6, 1930, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Thomas Henry and Dora Viola (Carlton) Leasher.
John was a 1948 graduate of the Evans City High School where he was most recognized on the basketball court.
In 1993, after 40 years of dedicated service, he retired from Arco Chemical in Monaca. After retirement, John was employed with the Butler Auto Auction for 10 years where he developed many relationships.
During his free time, he enjoyed roller skating, hunting, fishing, camping, traveling the country with his wife and attending dances. He will be dearly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 25 years, Sarah J. "Sally" (Mitchell) Leasher, who he married on April 10, 1987; his five loving children, John C. Leasher Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Huntsville, Ala., Susan M. Leasher of Zelienople, Robert T. Leasher and his wife, Danene, of Zelienople, William A. "Bill" Leasher and his wife, Irene, of Oakley, Calif., and Barry E. Leasher of Zelienople; his stepson, Richard Graef of Pittsburgh; his brother, Thomas G. Leasher and his wife, Doris of Evans City; his sister, Uldine Frishkorn of Zelienople; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his dear sister, Sara Mae McDonald, who passed away on Nov. 3, 2004.
LEASHER - The family of John C. "Senator" Leasher, who passed away Saturday, Nov, 3, 2012, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 116 E. Main St., Evans City.
A funeral ceremony will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Andrew Shaffer officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Evans City Cemetery.
