John W. 'Jack' Madl Sr.

John W. "Jack" Madl Sr., 85, of Cranberry Township, formerly of Mars, died Thursday morning at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on Jan. 4, 1928, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Lawrence R. and Helen Hoffman Madl Sr.
Jack was a steel technician for U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh, and following retirement, he was a bus driver for Durham Bus Service in Gibsonia.
He was a member of the Mars Alliance Church.
Jack had served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member and past commander of the Mars VFW Post 7505, and a life member of the Mars Volunteer Fire Company, now Adams Area Fire District, where he had many offices.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Rinaman Madl, who he married on March 31, 1950; four daughters, Loretta Jackson of Cranberry Township, Debbie Reighard of Valencia, Patti Mathews (Bill) of Middlesex Township and Michele Madl of Fombell; two sons, Jack Madl Jr. (Barb) of Pittsburgh and Tim Madl (Renay) of Waterville, Pa.; a brother, Donald C. Madl (Barb) of Ligonier; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by an infant son; two sisters, Helen Betty McCanch and Peg Fuhr; and a brother, Lawrence Madl.
MADL - Friends of John W. "Jack" Madl Sr., who died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Additional visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Mars Alliance Church, 997 Route 228, Mars, PA 16046, where services will follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Jeff Lawther officiating.
