Joseph F. Hoke
Joseph F. Hoke, 71, of Bramble Avenue, Butler went to be with the Lord at 2:20 p.m. Thursday at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights, surrounded by his family and friends.
Mr. Hoke was born in Pittsburgh on May 8, 1941, the son of Charles and Alice Davidson Hoke.
Mr. Hoke was of the Christian faith and was born again on Jan. 2.
He was employed by Armco in Butler for 41 years and retired in 2001.
He was an avid sports fan, especially of Duquesne University, and will be remembered for his many years of coaching baseball and basketball. He was a regular attendee of the Pittsburgh Pirates spring training in Bradenton, Fla. He also enjoyed traveling to area beaches and visiting his family.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving as a military police officer while stationed in Newfoundland.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah (Beatty) Hoke, who he married on July 10, 1970. He also is survived by six children, Keith Weisenstein and his wife, Andrea, Brad Weisenstein and his wife, Tracy, Lisa (Weisenstein) Whitesell and her husband, Micheal, Jason Hoke and his wife, Michelle, Marc Hoke and his wife, Tricia, and Nicole (Hoke) Moran and her husband, Chris; 17 grandchildren; one brother, William Hoke and his wife, Debbie; along with a number of extended family and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hoke was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret.
HOKE - Visitation for Joseph F. Hoke, who died Thursday, May 2, 2013, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, on Chicora Road at 200 Faith Way, Butler.
Funeral services will follow from the church at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Jenks, church pastor, and the Rev. Michael Bruno, pastor at Abba Christian Center, Slippery Rock, officiating.
Interment will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Chicora.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hile Funeral Home of Chicora.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Abba Christian Center, 525 Mercer Road, Slippery Rock, PA 16057.
