Margaret Mae Hartzell
Margaret Mae Hartzell, 82, of Slippery Rock, Worth Township, passed away at 7:13 p.m. Tuesday at her daughter's home.
She was born on Jan. 24, 1931, in Pittsburgh to Earl Thomas Weaver and Mary Theresa Nolan Weaver.
She married Richard Edgar Hartzell, who preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 1999.
She retired in 1997 from Sewickley Valley Hospital, where she was a licensed practical nurse. She attended the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Slippery Rock.
Survivors include 12 daughters, Patty Baum and her husband, Ricky, of Slippery Rock, Jean Ruckert and her husband, Bud, of Freedom, Pa., Gerrie Fulmer and her husband, Walt, of Boyers, Rose Dietrich of Cranberry Township, Dorothy Zavidny of Prospect, Deborah Dawson and her husband, Larry, of Butler, Mary Ann Ballard of Chambersburg, Pa., Jacquelyn Durci of Cabot, Barbara Durci of Clarion, Karen LaMotte of Saxonburg, Cheryl Byers and her husband, Leo, of Saxonburg and Catherine Brown and her husband, Bill, of Slippery Rock; four sons, Richard Hartzell and his wife, Carole, of Smicksburg, Pa., David Hartzell and his wife, Tara, of Rochester, Pa., William Hartzell and his wife, Terri, of Coraopolis, and Ronald Hartzell of Slippery Rock; a brother, Robert and his wife, Janice, Weaver of Zelienople; a sister, Earlene Hartzell of Zelienople; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughter, Barbara; son-in-law, Scott Dietrich Sr., and grandson, Scott Dietrich Jr.
HARTZELL - Family and friends of Margaret Mae Hartzell, who died Tuesday, June 18, 2013, will be received at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian burial of will be at the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 670 S. Main St., Slippery Rock, at 10 a.m. Saturday with Father Kevin Poecking, pastor, presiding. Interment will be at Zion Baptist Cemetery, Worth Township, Butler County.
Memorial contributions may be given to the VNA Hospice, 115 Technology Dr., Butler, Pa. 16001.
