William B. Thompson, 83, of Butler died Wednesday at the VA Butler Healthcare Hospice.
He was born Dec. 16, 1934, in Butler, and was the son of the late William C. Thompson and Amber Bell (Maxwell) Thompson.
He was retired from Nationwide Insurance in Cleveland, Ohio.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and had served in the Korean War.
He attended Center Hill Church of the Brethren in Kittanning and was a member of the Butler Flying Club.
Bill loved flying, golfing and traveling.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Illene Thompson of Butler; a son, Scott (Lisa) Thompson of Florida; one other son; a granddaughter, Bonnie of Fox Chapel; and four other grandchildren; his brothers, Kenneth Thompson of Butler, and Robert (Barbara) Thompson of Butler; and his sister, Carol Jane (Charles) Kuntz of Butler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Donald B. Thompson; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Thompson.
THOMPSON - Friends of William B. Thompson, who died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning.
Additional viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday at Center Hill Church of the Brethren, 2039 Freeport Road, Kittanning, with Pastor Donald Peters officiating.
Interment will be in Butler County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the VA Butler Healthcare Hospice, 400 Unit, 325 New Castle Road, Butler, PA 16001.
