Mary Esther 'Honey' Campbell
On Saturday, Mary Esther "Honey" Campbell, 80, in the presence of some of her children, passed away peacefully at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
Honey was dearly loved by her late husband, Wilson S. Campbell. Together they raised eight wonderful children, Cyndy (John Grabner), Scott (Mickey), Dean (Tammy), Liz (Scott Strickland), Ron (Faye), Patty (Gary McKeon), DeeAnne "Charlie" (Kurt Riemenschneider) and Douglas (Susan Book Campbell).
Her children, in turn, blessed them with 21 grandchildren, John, Jeff (Katie) and Scott Grabner, Jenna and Cristy Campbell, Casey, Katie, Kellie and Courtney Campbell, Chris, Alex and Max Safier, Jake Strickland, Ronald, Nick, Lydia and Eve Campbell, Mallory and Libby Riemenschneider and Lukas and Patrick Campbell.
Honey was born in Pittsburgh and raised in Imperial, Pa., along with her three siblings, Bill and Edward Kennedy and Betty Anderson. She attended Findlay High School and later the University of Pittsburgh.
Honey and Wilson raised their children in Imperial, Pa., Chautauqua, N.Y., Orlando, Fla., Russell, Pa., and Lake Toxaway, N.C., before moving to Butler in 2006.
Honey was an avid sports fan, and taking their motorhome to tailgate at Penn State University was something the family especially enjoyed over the years. It was a favorite for everyone and created lasting memories. She also enjoyed watching her Duke and University of North Carolina basketball teams which gave her many seasons of pleasure.
Her fond love for books and reading was unending. For years she was also an enthusiastic golfer and enjoyed many trips with family and friends.
It can be stated without a doubt that Honey and Wilson defined the vision and values of a true family. She was an amazing mother, a treasured friend and a devoted grandmother. Honey made a great impression and lasting friendships with everyone who touched her life. She will truly be missed by everyone that she came to know.
The family appreciates all the people at the VNA Inpatient Hospice who took great and loving care of Honey.
