With family near and far, a devoted friend, and host of others cheering her onward, Mrs. Dana J. McCoy (Anderson) of Sarver went home to be with her Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ, at 7:35 p.m. Friday at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia, Cabot.
For 63 years here on Earth, Mrs. McCoy, who was born on Dec. 14, 1950, served her Lord by loving her family, enjoying her times of Bible study, and blessing her friends both old and new with her own devotional thoughts about shells and jam, along with hundreds of devotional books.
For 22 of those years she was activities director at Concordia Ministries in Cabot, then she worked as a circuit instructor at Curves Saxonburg.
She traveled on mission trips to Burkina Faso, West Africa, Chaing Mae, Thailand, and Bucharest, Romania. In 2009, she refocused her life and began traveling all over this country of ours with her loving husband of 41 years, Mark McCoy, as often as possible to Edisto Island, S.C.
With her husband and three daughters, Alise Wright, Laura (Jonathan) Cooksey, and Megan (Justin) Wright, she was musical director of their family ministry known as "The Mountaintop Experience." For several years the family traveled throughout Western Pennsylvania and beyond sharing God's love with music and drama. Music was in her heart as she also sang with church choirs, directed the Saxonburg Easter Choir for several years, and was vocal director of two musicals at Knoch High School, working with her husband.
Over the past 15 years, she spent lots of time loving her six grandchildren, Deborah, James, Faith, Christopher, Lydia and Emma by traveling her favorite road to happiness I-79 south to Fairmont, W.Va., as well as to family vacation destinations.
She was preceded to Heaven by her father, Walter (Trigger) Anderson in 2008, while her mother Ruth currently lives at Oertal Personal Care at Concordia in Cabot.
