Vivian R. Goff, 85, of Section, Ala., formerly of Butler, passed away Monday at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Ala.
Born in Ohiopyle on Sept. 5, 1928, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Evelyn Conklin Rumbaugh.
She was a former secretary at the First English Lutheran Church for 10 years and also was secretary to the Rev. John D. Schneidmiller for the Evangelical Church in America for 17 years.
Vivian was a gifted singer, having sung in choirs and as a soloist for more than 75 years. She was an active church member until her death and was a former member of Oak Hills Christian Church in Butler. She also was an avid golfer.
She is survived by her son, James H. Goff and his wife, Connie, of Section, Ala.; her daughter, Dr. Valerie Goff Whitecap of Pittsburgh; and her brother, Samuel J. Alexander and his wife, Kelley, of Nellysford, Va.
She also is survived by her four grandchildren, Amy Western and her husband, Bryan, of Indianapolis, Bradley Whitecap and his wife, Krysta, of Pittsburgh, Dane D. Goff, serving with the U.S. Navy in New Hampshire, and Tracey L. Goff of Scottsboro, Ala.
She was also loved by her three great-grandchildren, Madeline Kendall Western, Christopher Jackson Western and Layla Jade Goff, and by her numerous cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kendall L. Goff, who passed away on March 9, 2008.
Goff - The friends of Vivian R. Goff, who passed away Monday, March, 10, 2014, will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler, from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
The funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. John Holmes of A Restoration Church in Pittsburgh, officiating.
Burial will take place in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
The family requests memorial gifts be made to the Section United Methodist Church, 153 Church St., Section, AL 35771.
