Edward L. "Ed" Ritchey, 81, of Hornertown, Petrolia, passed away Sunday morning at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh following a period of declining health.

Born in Petrolia on Sept. 10, 1932, he was the son of the late Roy W. and Myrtle B. Rankin Ritchey.
Ed was a retired employee of Witco Chemical in Petrolia. He also farmed the family homestead and enjoyed caring for both show and work horses.
He was a Protestant.
He was an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Army, having served at Ft. Bragg, N.C., among other military assignments.
Surviving are his niece, Patee (Greg) Neff of Milton, Fla.; his two great-nieces, DeAnna (Allen) Scheerbaum of Chicora and CoDee Jean (Brandon) Wesley of Milton, Fla.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Mae Boggs Ritchey, who passed away on Aug. 1, 2009, and his brother, William Ritchey, who passed away on May 18, 2012.
Ritchey- Services for Edward L. "Ed" Ritchey, who passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014, were this morning at the Buzard Funeral Home in Parker.
The VFW and American Legion posts of Parker conducted veterans memorial services. Burial was at Bear Creek Cemetery in Petrolia.
