Viletta M. Gardner, 94, of Butler passed away at 5:45 a.m. Saturday at Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice.

She was born on Nov. 30, 1919, in Butler County, the daughter of the late Austin Clair and Minnie (Fair) Thompson.
Viletta had worked in the laundry department at the Butler Veterans Medical Center and also did volunteer work there for 17 years. She was a member of the Community Alliance Church.
Surviving are her son, Bob (Susie Herold) Gardner of Prospect; her two daughters, Sue (Jerry) Neil of Prospect and Donna M. Gardner of Butler; her four grandchildren; her five great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandchild; her two sisters, Edna Balcko of Grove City and Zelda Toland of Ellwood City; her brother, Donald (Dorothy) Thompson of Harrisville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Gardner, who passed away on Jan. 4, 1968; her four sisters; and her three brothers.
Gardner - The friends of Viletta M. Gardner, who passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014, will be received at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
Services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday with her pastor, the Rev. Dennis Krajacic, officiating. Interment will be in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.
