Donley Albert Martin, 86, of Herman, passed away Monday at V.N.A. Inpatient Hospice surrounded by his loving family.
Donley, who was affectionately known as "Pap," was born June 10, 1928, in Sycamore, Greene County, the son of the late Levi Earl and Madelyn Ewart Martin.
He attended Ross and Nineveh Schools in Greene County until the eighth grade.
He retired from the Pepsi-Cola Company, where he was employed as a mechanic. He was formerly employed at Pullman Standard.
Donley was an active member and a former deacon of North Street Christian Church, Butler.
He belonged to the National Pike Steam, Gas and Horse Association, the Northwest Pennsylvania Steam Engine and Old Equipment Association, and the North American Ford, Fordson, Ferguson Collectors Association.
Donley's favorite hobby was restoring antique tractors. His sons will donate his favorite Fordson tractor to the National Pike Museum in Brownsville in his memory.
Donley is survived by two sons, Donnie Martin and his wife, Cindy, and Bill Martin and his wife, Linda, all of Prosperity; four daughters, Nancy Mundell and her husband, Jerry, of Avella, Debbie King and her husband, Steven, of Butler, Dawna Rhodaberger and her husband, A.J., of Herman, and Dianna Hoehn and her husband, Paul, of Butler; two brothers, Ed Martin of Alabama, and Bill Martin of Washington, Pa.; and three sisters, Emma Jo Breese of Taylorstown, Mona Lou Beatty, of Claysville, and Sandy Boyle of Columbiana, Ohio.
He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was eagerly awaiting the arrival of another great-grandson, expected in August.
In addition to his parents, Donley was preceded in death by his wife, Chervyl Staley Martin, who passed away Nov. 1, 2009, and one brother.
Martin - Friends of Donley Albert Martin, who passed away Monday, July 14, 2014, will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at North Street Christian Church, 226 W. North St., Butler.
Services will follow at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church with Pastor Bob Huber and Pastor Jeff Miller officiating.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.
