Edward J. Gnoth, 95, of Pleasant Hills passed away Sunday morning at Mercy Hospital.
Born on Dec. 1, 1918, in Yukon, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anne Gnoth.
He graduated from Charleroi High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II.
He later worked as an engineer with the Bell Telephone Co.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, visiting the family camp in Clarion, gardening and working in the yard, traveling, and visiting with family and friends. He was active in many civic and charity groups, including the Lions Club and the Masons. He was a Past Master at CScottish Rite - Valley of Pittsburgh, Syria Shrine Temple, The Pioneers - Retired Bell Telephone Employees, and the Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Emily V. Gnoth; his brother, Walter Gnoth, and his sister, Martha Gnoth.
He is survived by his sister, Betty Gnoth; his son, Edward Gnoth; two grandsons, Edward Gnoth and James Gnoth, and two great-grandsons, Caleb Gnoth and Caden Gnoth.
harleroi Lodge 615 and a 50-year member of the Pleasant Hills Lodge 509, the American Legion Post 787 Mars, the Scottish Rite - Valley of Pittsburgh, Syria Shrine Temple, The Pioneers - Retired Bell Telephone Employees, and the Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church.

Gnoth - A Masonic service for Edward J. Gnoth, who passed away Sunday, July 27 2014, is planned for 9:30 a.m. Saturday followed by a memorial service at 10 a.m. at the Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church, 199 Old Clairton Road, Pleasant Hills.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 W. 8th St., Erie PA 16505.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Pittsburgh.
