Katherine Emrick
Katherine Mary Emrick, 59, of Kittanning died at 11:55 p.m. Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born March 9, 1951, in East Butler, she was the daughter of Robert Paul Vandervort and Betty Manny Vandervort.
Katherine worked for Magnetics for 16 years, following which she owned and operated the Happy Trails Equine Center.
She was a foster mother. She loved to show quarter horses and was active in the American Quarter Horse Congress.
She was a very merciful and giving woman, taking many people in on different occasions.
Katherine is survived by her parents; two sons, Jim and his wife, Crissy, Emrick of Butler and Rocky Emrick of Kittanning; one daughter, Kassie Emrick of Kittanning; four grandchildren, Jimmy, Justin, Jesse and Dusty; one brother, Paul Vandervort of Dayton, Armstrong County; one nephew, Joe and his wife, Steph, Vandervort; and one niece, Bobbi Jo Vandervort.
Katherine was preceded in death by one brother, Robert E. Vandervort.
EMRICK - Friends of Katherine Mary Emrick, who died Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial services will be at the Happy Trails Equine Center, 1241 Martin Road, Kittanning, on Sunday at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Applebee of the Alliance Church in Kittanning officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Happy Trails Equine Center, 1241 Martin Road, Kittanning, PA 16201.

Kathy was an unconditional loving friend who will live in my heart forever.I will never forget my life with Kathy as a child and as an adult.All the fun times that were had horseback riding,dancing and Grandpas truck.In my adult years she led me to the christian life and made me in to the person I am today.May God bless all of you in this sad time .May she rest in peace.

So sorry for your loss. Kathy was a wonderful,caring person. She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched. Many years ago in East Butler...She taught me to ride a horse for the first time. It was her horse Dusty I remember how scared I was but by the time we were done riding I
