Vernon R. Keck
Vernon "Vern" R. Keck, 58, of Saxonburg passed away Wednesday at Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot.
Born Oct. 15, 1952, in Butler, he was the son of Dale and Shirley (Campbell) Keck.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.
Vern was a graduate of Knoch High School.
He retired from North Pittsburgh Telephone Co. as a lineman, where he was employed for more than 30 years.
He was an active member of Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church, where he also had been an elder.
Vern enjoyed farming, woodworking, hunting, John Deere tractors, and attending his children's sporting events.
Surviving are his loving wife, Carole (Fennell) Keck, who he married Oct. 9, 1982; his children, of whom he was especially proud, Steven, Erin and Mark Keck, all at home; and his sisters, Karen Keck and Glenda Keck, both of Saxonburg. Also surviving are his father-in-law, Leighton Fennell of Butler; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Fennell of Butler.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
KECK - Friends of Vernon "Vern" R. Keck, who died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, will be received today from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Toby Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Gruenwald Cemetery, Summit Township.
Memorial donations may be made to Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church, Butler County Special Olympics, or Good Samaritan Hospice.
